Ancient and extensive techniques are used to make the mudcloth used for this bag. Fabric is all hand-spun then sewn together, dyed in a tea made from the Bogalon tree found in sub-Saharan Africa. Afterwards, craftsmen paint designs onto the fabric with specially prepared mud. The piece is then bleached after the entire process is complete to give a lighter look: unique and more treasured. This process has been used for centuries to pass African culture from generation to generation.
